Terry Hodgetts is the Director of Corporate Client Solutions for Aston University. He shares how Aptem’s configurability has empowered the university to enhance the learner journey through personalisation at scale. They can now easily create individualised and practical programmes across their provision.

We have a very active apprenticeship provision at the moment. We’ve had over the course of our lifetime so far just over 2000 apprentices on programme. Currently around 1200 are live. Those 1200 are across 18 different programmes covering 12 different standards. So it is quite a broad operation that we’ve got going on at the moment.
The configurability of the system in many ways is one of the great benefits of it. So particularly when we look at our ability to build out a programme and have a standard template for a programme, but then if we’re bringing somebody on board, perhaps they’ve gone on a break in learning, so they started a programme with one cohort two years ago, they’ve taken a year out and then they want to come back. The ability to quickly build a custom programme journey or a custom learner journey off the back of their original journey, so we can kind of shoehorn them into another cohort to maintain their learning, but give them a custom programme that reflects exactly where they are, and their prior learning that they have completed is really, really powerful and really helps to facilitate the management of an apprentice on programme.
And I think the configuration then within the system that we have in terms of the ability to build customers reviews, for example, as well within a learning journey, and thinking about how we might want to continue to further customise on a programme by programme basis going forward so that we are better supporting the learner journey within each programme and with each successive iteration of a programme implementing learnings from previous runnings that we can build and develop and continue to develop more features, more functionality, more practicality, more applicability in the way that the platform is being used for each group.
