Case study: Learning Curve Group

Learning Curve Group (LCG) is a national training and education company, working with training providers, employers and learners to help them achieve success.

A large provider, supporting over 120,000 learners annually, it provides apprenticeships and training across a wide spectrum of occupations, from health and social care, construction, and hair and beauty, to business and management, IT, and hospitality and catering.

Learner onboarding

LCG signed up to Aptem Enrol in March 2020, so they could quickly onboard their learners remotely and deliver day one learning online. On April 14th they went live with their first learners, right in the middle of the pandemic lockdown.

Before signing up to Aptem, the organisation was onboarding learners face to face. LCG’s Director of Funding and MIS, Daniel Dowson, says:

“Before Aptem, our onboarding was face-to-face and paper-based. We already felt this method was costly, time-consuming, and old-fashioned. With the arrival of the pandemic, finding another way of onboarding was critical, as we couldn’t access learners in person anymore.”

Aptem Enrol offered a solution, says Dowson. It was user-friendly, Ofsted and ESFA compliant, flexible, and “allowed for customisation and use with a range of funding schemes.”

The implementation of Aptem Enrol and day one learning functionality took one month. While there was a complex process of system configuration to get all their requirements into the registration process, implementation went very smoothly.

Reducing admin and increasing compliance

Because of Aptem, the organisation has seen a reduction in time spent on MIS administration, and printing and mileage costs. LCG expect that compliance will be more accurate too. The learner must work through each section in order and cannot submit forms without signatures. Dealing with compliance headaches more easily, and saving time and money on administration, means more time for learners, says Dowson:

“As well as being able to enrol and onboard learners entirely remotely in these unusual times, we also feel that the quality of our initial interaction with learners will be a higher quality. We will be more focused on teaching and learning as opposed to form filling. All the admin will have been done beforehand.”

One of Aptem’s unique features is the ease of which it can be integrated into existing systems. LCG is exploring its csv export feature to potentially import into its current MIS system, ProSolution. It is also planning to use the Skills Forward Initial Assessment compatibility as soon as possible.

Learning Curve Group was very happy with the service MWS Technology provided.

“Our implementation consultants were very supportive and responsive to requests,” said Dowson.

We are delighted to have delivered for LCG. We hope that the organisation reaps the full benefits of Aptem Enrol now and into the future.
